Getty Holiday Partay

MERRY CHRISTMAS....almost.

So, last week, we had our work holiday party, which is more like a wedding party its so outrageous. There was food flowing out of every corner of the massive plaza and I was eating all of it....it was really good, but since it was outdoors and it was really really cold that night, the mashed potatoes would freeze before I could get it into my orifice... it was amazing.

they had this cool photo taking thingie that projected it up on the wall...so fun.

here are some of the pics from the night....

people are cute

and weird
and just awesome
way to be professional at a work party....

hahaha...

in other news...

Hanukkah is awesome...and so is the book the kite runner....

i've already cried twice.

Walking in LA...Walking in LA-hay....

somebody walks in LA

I bought this book a few months ago. It tells you about different walking tours you can make yourself in LA. We've been meaning to go on a walk, but we finally did this past Saturday (which was actually really the perfect day for it since it rained on Friday making Saturday crisp and clear).

Anyway, we walked around Echo Park and Angelino Heights...it was a two mile walk, totally easy and jampacked with amazing houses to see. Most of these homes were built in the late 1800s, and most of them are actually preserved monuments.

There were Mexican style homes

this exists in the city!

a haunted house

a house being built from the ground up, strike that, reverse it....strange.
chloe likes the leaves changing color cuz she can camouflage.
and that is the end of their street...thats the LA skyline!

Then we ventured downtown to Angelique Cafe to conclude our Angel-ino-ique day.
dave's still getting used to his facial hair.

Not for the Faint of Heart...

So I was at work today, and this woman was toasting special bread for someone and continued to tell me about noticing that its young people that have all sorts of weird dietary needs. Young people are usually the ones who need gluten-wheat-peanut-nut-oil-free foods. She was telling me about an article she read in Businessweek that talked about how our parents took antibiotics and gave us antibiotics and all this antibacterial crap that we use like lotion is actually SERIOUSLY messing us up.

Its really actually hurting our immune system! I read another thing the other day about this scientist who predicts that in the year 3000 our immune systems will be so weak (this scientist also predicted that the human race will split in two..the good looking and the ogre uglies...we all know where my family line will end up) and essentially, medicine will have become our worst enemy.

I totally believe it. I hate taking medicina. Except for claritin. Claritin is gods gift to hives, everything else is garbage. hahha.

Anyway, I was just thinking about how sad it was that peanut butter is not even allowed in schools now since too many kids are allergic to it. What the hell? PB&J was once a staple in the playground, now its banned? thats seriously effed.

But anyway, just going on this same tangent...I was wondering if anyone had seen this article about Lakshmi, the 8-legged baby girl. She's actually really cute. She had a parasitic twin that left its limbs basically. She had surgery and now she's fine...

But check it out.

So stop antibacterializing your hands and antibiotiquing your bodies....DOES NOT DO A BODY GOOD.

Halloweeeenie

Dave is actually born on Halloween, so we went out for dinner that night.

(please ignore the fact that I look like I've got a problem)

I was an emotional beauty pageant winner and Dave was Jesus.

We even had a last supper in His honor.

Chloe couldn't come, but it was fun anyway.

Some of the other couples:

Jake (Dave's brother) and Jackie as flight attendants on Oceanic flight 815 (get it Lost?)

Ian (Dave's roommate) and Joanna as the guy from the cure and cute space cadet girl

Andrew (Dave's friend) and Mande as Arabs

Thats right, get down with your drunken uncoordinated selves. Very nice.

Happy Birthday Porkchop.

Why I'm a Lucky Girl...

1. because i get to wake up with this cuddle bug on Saturday mornings

2. because I work at the Getty and get every other Friday off
3. because my lovely boyfriend loves me more when I snort disgustingly while I laugh too hard
4. because I have amazing friends, two in particular who made me CDs for my Birthday, both of which have the song We're Going to be Friends by the White Stripes. Its pretty incredible since these two friends (Michelle and Alli) are pretty unrelated or connected. I'm special....

Fall is here, hear the yell
back to school, ring the bell
brand new shoes, walking blues
climb the fence, books and pens
I can tell that we're going to be friends

Walk with me, Suzy Lee
through the park and by the tree
we will rest upon the ground
and look at all the bugs we found
safely walk to school without a sound
safely walk to school without a sound

Here we are, no one else
we walked to school all by ourselves
there's dirt on our uniforms
from chasing all the ants and worms
we clean up and now its time to learn
we clean up and now its time to learn
[ Lyrics accessible from http://www.rare-lyrics.com ]

Numbers, letters, learn to spell
nouns, and books, and show and tell
at playtime we will throw the ball
back to class, through the hall
teacher marks our height against the wall
teacher marks our height against the wall

We don't notice any time pass
we don't notice anything
we sit side by side in every class
teacher thinks that I sound funny
but she likes the way you sing

Tonight I'll dream while in my bed
when silly thoughts go through my head
about the bugs and alphabet
and when I wake tommorow I'll bet
that you and I will walk together again
I can tell that we're going to be friends

I'm sorry to boast, but its nice to be on the side where the grass is really really green.
