Everything looks better vintage.

Today is the beginning of Lent. I heart Lent mostly because I like the tradition and it makes me nostalgic of high school, not because of the religious aspect. I got some Ashes today for Ash Wednesday but I'm still deciding on what to give up for Lent.

I was thinking perhaps this year, I won't give anything up and I'll just do stuff. I think I might try to blog EVERY single day for 40days and 40nights. gah.

Some things I've given up during Lent:

Junior year of HS - cursing. I had to do 15 pushups no matter WHERE I was if I cursed. This led to pushups at J. Crew.
Senior year of HS - rice. This was tough. I really wanted sushi!
Sometime in College - sweets. This was ruined when I ate a nutter butter and didn't think it was going to be a cookie. I thought it was more like peanut butter crackers.

maybe this year I'll stop spending unnecessary money too! Given that my Chloe is going to possibly need surgery, this might be impossible.
Can't talk about it. I might cry.

Onto funner things.
Seriously OLD family picture. My aunts are babies in this. But it's just so cute.

These are just some old cousin pics. I miss my fambam.

I am art work.

Demanding demanding peeps!

A few months ago, my good friend Nicole asked me and our friend Noelia to pose for her for a series of paintings. Given that she's TOTALLY talented and the fact that it's TOTALLY fun to see yourself in painting form, I jumped at the opportunity.

She did a series of us in search of a hideous creature in South America, but during the journey, we're distracted by much cuter creatures. She dressed me in Rodarte!

This was my entourage...We went to dinner at Wood Spoon in downtown beforehand. My most favorite thing about Wood Spoon, is their cinnamon water! It's incredible!

And lastly, happy hallmark created special day! I'm listening to This American Life's Valentine's day special on "finding your soulmate; it's quite fun!

Big and Little

Every year on my birthday, I have a little chart and I write about different things in my life, ie travels, accomplishments, traumatic events, career etc. Last year, on my 26th birthday, I realized that during my 25th year, I did little but work and read. The year before, I graduated college, traveled all over Asia..basically a lot more stuff.

This really depressed me actually. I felt like I was in limbo. Too old to be irresponsibly traveling and bouncing around doing whatever I please, and too young to be working every minute and being so serious. This coupled with the fact that many of my friends are on very different sides of the spectrum really led me on a whirlwind of not knowing what the heck to do with myself.

Basically, I needed to feel like I was doing something with myself. Enter....Big Bros and Big Sis program of Los Angeles. I had always wanted to volunteer for this program, but never really had the time for it. I applied for this program that matches you with a kid that for one reason or another needs a mentor, or just someone to hang out with. They do SUPER extensive research on people just to make sure that you are a good match.

This is my Little. Her name is Emmely. She's super awesome, super smart and super special. Today we played with photobooth.

We went to see the Eiffel Tower.

Went to the moon and experienced zero-gravity.

Got on a rollercoaster.

Saw a waterfall.
And took a nap in the clouds.

What a DAY! We ended the day by watching Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants!

She and I are making our own joint blog, but I can't really make that public since the program is super strict and I'm not sure how they'd feel about that....
