Dave's Appendix and Beard

It started on Saturday, March 15. We went to Dave's friend's birthday bash and all night long, Dave's tummy wasn't feeling too hot. He thought it was muscle pain, and just went along, celebrating Saint Patrick's day (Happy Birthday Michelle) and working as usual. Thursday, March 20, I stayed home because I had the flu and Dave came home REALLY not feeling well.

We go to Cedars Sinai at around 5pm and at 7am, Dave was wheeled into the Operating Room and lost his appendix.

He ended up having to stay in the hospital until the following Tuesday. It was very scary and sad (he was pretty helpless). But all is well now.

You can track the progression of his health by the growth of his beard.

See....
Saturday night...

Celebrating Saint Patrick's Day

Pre-Operation. This is the first time the doctor sees him, and I'm not very aware of his pain level. This was taken about 3.2 seconds before he got very angry with me for taking photographs of him in his "gown." Like I said, I wasn't aware of his pain level.

Post-Surgery. He was working on his tri-flow which measures his lung capacity. Please forgive my eyebags, I hadn't slept very much. Although, I don't really have a good enough excuse because Dave's mom high-tailed herself to LA from Oregon in the middle of the night and still looks fabulous. So...yeah. I need my beauty sleep.

Feeling a bit better. As you can tell, it only took Dave 3 days before he was conducting business in his "gown." (I say "gown" because it's really a dress). I'd like to remind my readers to notice his beard please.

And then he was discharged. Jackie and Jacob (Dave's brother) made him this very clever shirt. He got quite a laugh in the hospital.

YAY...
ok but...here's what happened when the beard was coming off.

I'd also like to point out this similarity:

RIGHT????

All I have to say is that Dave is an extremely lucky guy! Jacob and Jackie came to the hospital as soon as they could and Jacob was the ONLY one who never left that first night. And Dave's mom drove at 3am to Sacramento to catch the first flight to LA!

Mishe Mokwa Trail

This past Sunday, Dave, Chloe and I went on a 6 mile hike in the Santa Monica Mountains.

There were signs warning about mountain lions and we found paw prints, which made me nervous, the highest point was 3000miles up and at times the cliffs were really steep, that made me nervous, and there was a bit of howling, which also made me nervous...but all in all it was exciting, and tiring and fun. The actual trail wasn't too bad, it was really just the distance that kicked my fanny.

It was really pretty. Its pretty amazing that there are places like these to go in Los Angeles.

how can anyone ever convince me to leave LA?

MLK Weekend

Martin Luther King, Jr. He did so much! I'm so thankful...for civil rights and for three day weekends! thanks MLK, Jr.

First up...

Dave and I (and Chloe) took a Graffiti Walk in LA..along the back alleys of Melrose Ave. It was led by Steve Grody, author of Graffiti LA. Our group had a bunch of oldies that were interested in appreciating street art. They had a lot of questions, some which were interesting, some which were not, and many that were obnoxious...but all in all..I learned a ton.

IE.
CBS = Can't Be Stopped. Its apparently a pretty successful graffiti Krew in LA...
KGB = another graffiti Krew...David Arquette used to belong to it.
K2S = Gajin Fujita's former krew which was a pioneer in Los Angeles graffiti.
Graffiti originated on trains
Graffiti has no racial/social/gender boundaries....appropriate that we did that on MLK weekend...riiite? (one work that we saw actually had hebrew written on it!)

And then on Monday, we went to Santa Barbara...El Capitan Beach
It was a 5mile walk "hike" but it was far too easy to be a hike. We walked all along the coast and it was absolutely gorgeous, the water was soopah blue and the air was really crisp.

So Chloe's stick got stuck on the hill and I was trying to lasso it down with her leash which ended up getting stuck on the hill too..Dave had to climb up and get it...

what an awesome weekend.

Presenting.....Nico!

So, I try not to brag too much, but hey, the grass is pretty green on my side....

Another reason why...because I'm the godmother of this little cutie.

You know what that means? That means, theres a chance I get to keep him!! hahha, thats horribly morbid, and not funny.

Nicholas Anthony Nuccio...Baby Bling...

Michelle (my BFF since I was a preteen) birthed this little guy on the day I had my interview with the Getty. In fact, my phone was ringing as I was interviewing! A day later, I got the job....Nico is my good luck charm. He's such a good baby and giggles when he gets his butt washed...

These pictures have been rotating on my desktop at work, and whenever people ask me who's baby it is, I keep saying its my nephew...I forget I'm not related by blood... =)
